Poster depicting Surfing at Perranporth (1922)
When surfing was for the hardy; woollen bathing suits and 'coffin lid' belly boards. The full piece bathing costumes
protected both sexes from splinters. When swimming trunks became fashionable in the 1930s, many men bought
butcher's aprons to protect their chests.
