"The idea for a breast cancer charity board came to me when I spotted a plain pink surfboard in the sea last summer. Since my sister got breast cancer in 1997, aged 41, I think of her and breast cancer ribbons almost every time I see pink.

We had both learnt to surf on wooden boards in North Cornwall in the mid 1960s when I was about six and my sister was a few years older. We spent hours in the sea without wetsuits but didn’t get cold if we raced back into the surf to catch more waves.

Surf SupportSadly Jane died before I got my first pink surfboard, but it struck me that selling ribbon surf boards would be a special way to remember Jane and the sisterly fun we had surfing together - and also a much healthier way to support Breast Cancer Research than having cookie and cake sale events!

Sincere thanks to the local Cancer Research team who helped me to turn a very personal fund raising idea into a reality"
